'90-'94 2.0 Liter DOHC Galant

Congratulations on your purchase of the 2.0 liter Mitsubishi Trigger Wheel Package! This trigger wheel provides a high-resolution trigger input to the Electromotive computer on your Diamond Star powered vehicle. This kit requires no machining or welding, and is a simple bolt-on.

Kit Contents:

1.) Electromotive 60 (-2) tooth trigger wheel for Eclipse (PN: 220-73002)
2.) Trigger Wheel Centering Ring w/ Standoffs (PN: 235-72770)
3.) ¼-20 button head cap screw , 5/8" (Q'ty: 2)
4.) M8-1.25 x 40mm cap screw (Q'ty: 4)
5.) 5/16-18 1.5" Long Grade 8 Cap Screws (Q'ty: 4)
6.) 5/16" Washers (Q'ty 4)
7.) M6 x 1.00 20mm Cap Screws (Q'ty: 2)
8.) ¼" Spring Washers (Q'ty: 2)
9.) 10-32 set screw

Directions:
1.) Loosen the accessory belts and remove the four bolts that hold the pulley set (damper) to the crankshaft. Leave the pulley on the crankshaft.
2.) Position the engine on TDC with the #1 cylinder.
3.) Using the four M8 bolts provided, install the centering ring on the damper, and bolt the damper/centering ring assembly onto the crankshaft. Make sure the ¾" standoffs are pressed into the centering ring evenly and fully before installation. Use of a low-strength Loctite© is recommended on the bolts. It may be necessary to rotate the engine to tighten the bolts. If so, be sure to return the engine to TDC.
4.) Install the magnetic sensor bracket as shown in Figure 1. Installation requires the removal of two of the front oil pan bolts, which can be accessed from under the vehicle. Use the included M6 cap screws and spring washers for reinstallation, and use a small amount of black RTV on the bolt threads (this helps to seal the oil pan).
5.) Using the 5/16" bolts and washers (with Loctite©), install the trigger wheel onto the damper. When the engine is at TDC #1, the center of the trigger wheel should be aligned with the center of the12th tooth, as shown in Figure 2. NOTE THAT THIS GIVES A MECHANICAL ADVANCE OF ABOUT 5 DEGREES. This helps with starting the engine when running high-overlap camshafts.
6.) Install the magnetic sensor into the bracket (use Loctite©), and adjust the air gap between the sensor tip and trigger wheel to about 0.050".
7.) Turn the engine over by hand, and measure the air gap at 90 degree intervals. If the air gap varies by more than 0.006" from the smallest to the largest measurement, it may be necessary to loosen the bolts and slightly re-center the trigger wheel.

Following successful installation of the Mitsubishi 2.0 Liter Trigger Wheel Package, you will have an ultra-high resolution crank sensor signal going into the Electromotive computer on your vehicle. Should you need any technical support in your installation, please feel free to contact us.
